OUR STORY

Reno Folk Festival (RFF) gets its name from the river Reno along the banks of which, in Casalecchio di Reno, the festival was born. The Popular Dances section of the Polisportiva Masi, under the direction of Mauro Burnelli, conceived the idea of the festival, the first edition of which was held in 2002.

RFF is a place where the once commonplace act of dancing as a community comes alive again. A meeting place for music and dances both trad and neo-trad, coming from different parts of Europe and the world, the festival hopes to make dancing as essential as breathing, eating, sleeping.

Since 2016, the festival is co-organised by the Giovani danzatori bolognesi, and in 2017 has moved to ARCI San Lazzaro, likewise co-organiser since 2019. The festival continues to uphold its core values giving space to traditional music and dance as well as its more neo-trad iterations.
